A tree from a graveyard? Is this the kinda thing the Wiki can do?

On my mother's side there is a old graveyard, she told me as a child we were related to them all.
How would I go about this? There are 27 readable Headstone. Earlyist readable stone 1827-1891 George Chamblee. There are over 100 unmarked stones dating back to unknown https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Cedar_Mount_Cemetery

Is this the kinda thing the Wiki can do? A tree for the graveyard?

Can I start a project/study on the graveyard and who is in it and how they are related?

This is at botton of transcript. What does it mean?

Hello Susan.

"Civil War Soldiers & Sailors System, National Park Service" may refer to the CWSS. See here (scroll down):

You can enter individuals without connecting them to a tree by selecting "add" from the menu, and then "new person".

You might also want to create a category for the cemetery. (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Cemetery_Categorization). By adding the category to each profile you can create a list of all the people who are buried there.

Thank you Karen.  I will look into the categorization.  It seems to be what I need to check into and get used to.

I agree with Deb.  Visit the Cemeteries Project and hopefully you will sign on.  It's a wonderful way to honor those souls and also grow our global family tree.

Hey Susan....sounds like you are on the right path with all the suggestions here.  I was working on Veterans at one of my local cemeteries and with help for a special person here on WT, I was able to create a Free Space for the Veterans in the cemetery.

Now, I am working on adding each to WT.  Check it out for any ideas you might think could work for you.

Hi, Susan

I was confused by: Is this the kinda thing the Wiki can do? A tree for the graveyard?

Any tree starts with profiles of the people.  The graveyard sounds like it gives you good clues for names and dates to find further proof.

As Sheila said, you can set up a page for all of them in the graveyard, and link the names in the page to the profiles as they are created.  I am very familiar with her cemetery page, and can help set up yours if you'd like.

You need to find corroborating proof for life events - birth and death at least.  Please ensure that you don't use the graveyard as a source without finding primary sources for the life events.  You want to confirm the dates and source the profiles.

Your links here and on your profile go to a page named "House Cleaning" that doesn't appear to contain the History.

This is a wonderful idea for family cemeteries - I have a few in West Virginia that are all related to me.  This might be another rabbit hole I can go down!

Thank you Sheryl.  This was an older question and did not realize I had moved the Records to here https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Cedar_Mount_Cemetery. I have done some work with it.

Hi, Susan

I didn't look at the question's date; I just saw the recent contributions, and it showed up on my feed.

Great to know you got a page started and linking the profiles.

I started down the rabbit hole with one of my family cemeteries.  Thanks a lot, Susan!  wink

I am sorry I had the link wrong.  Here is the Cemetery.  I have made advances with it.
