Add [[Category:Avery Name Study]] as plain text.

I want to add the following to the AVERY name study which I've seen on other studies: [To add a profile to the Avery Name Study, insert [[Category:Avery Name Study]] after Biography.]

But the [[Category:Avery Name Study]] doesn't show up obviously because it's being translated as just adding the page to the Category name. How do I add [[Category:Avery Name Study]] as just plain text with no coding within it?

One way is to put

<nowiki>[[Category: Avery Name Study]]</nowiki>

The categories that you add using the normal coding method now appear at the bottom of profile, free-space, and category pages:

Putting that text in the body of the profile would seem to be aimed at getting around the burying of categories at the bottom of the page?
Using the colon before the word Category (and withing the double brackets that create an internal link) creates a link to the category, but does not add the page to the category.

Using the <nowiki> coding will allow you to add plain text, without a link and without adding the page to the category.

To add the profile or free-space page to the categorized group, you still must use the normal category coding method (i. e. use the category picker formatting button).

It's simply a question of your goal.

To create a regular link, you add a colon before the word Category:

[[:Category:Avery Name Study]]

Or as RJ mentioned, you can use <nowiki></nowiki> tags around a text area to show all of the data between those tags without the text being executed or read by the server.

I've been wondering what the : before word category was for.
