Was Mary Shaw, d/o James Shaw and Mary Mitchell married to James Wheaton?

Hi:

I'm trying to untangle some similarly names people in Rehoboth and Swansea.

James Wheaton married Mary Shaw in Rehoboth https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Shaw-463.

(Currently that profile is attached to the wrong James Wheaton, but that's another issue).

I could not find any evidence suggesting a connection between James Wheaton's wife and the daughter of James/Mary, but before suggesting disconnecting, I wanted to check.

Mary Mitchell is a Mayflower descendant. I'm not very familiar with Mayflower sources, so I thought that maybe someone who has more experience could check.

In Jonathan A. Shaw, "John Shaw of Plymouth Colony, Purchaser and Canal Builder," ''NEHGR'' 151:275,  (link by $ubscription) makes the case that all of James Shaw's children died by 11 November 1699 without issue as James' land went to his nephews, sons of his brother Jonathan Shaw. (Citing Bristol Co. Deeds, 3:61)

It also states that daughter Mary Shaw, b. say 1658; living, unmarried, 10 May 1679, when she signed a deed with her mother. It makes no mention of any marriage for Mary.

(Note: I edited the source above to correct Vol. & page in NEHGR, altho the link was correct.)

Excellent! Thank you.  That's just what is needed.  I'll add that info and suggest disconnecting.

Thanks for looking.  I've checked all of the usual places.  I guess I hoping for someone to help evaluate evidence.  From the links that you've collected, I would say there is no evidence that they are the same.

Two James Wheaton's.  https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/sources/LDCQ-LJH   and             https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/sources/LC6G-ZMT   It appears that one married Hanna. The other married  Mary.

Correct.  I know which is which and am correcting that separately.  I need to confirm Mary's parents.
Good Luck!
