smiley After you sign the honor code and the other things, start with yourself, there's a template where you enter name, where born and when, and other information. There was likely a birth registration, a birth certificate, had a number assigned to it.

SOURCES would be where the birth certificate is located (State capitol archives, usually) and that is quite often available (depending on what state you were born in if born in United States) at www.familysearch.org

SOURCES are put into the profile in order that anyone who has questions or doubts can go look at the material for themselves. These are hyperlinked automatically if you copy the "Citation" information provided by familysearch, the whole thing it provides.

THIS site is available without payment, free to use, and use the SAME email (user name) and password you used when you signed up at Wikitree

In fact each time you logon into Wikitree, use the SAME email and password. That's important.

You can keep yourself private, using black or red privacy setting.

Once you have that done, profile each parent, and again you can quite possibly find info on them at www.familysearch.org

There are dozens of PM at Wikitree who WILL be willing to assist you in navigating Wikitree and in formation of the profiles. It WILL take some time to become used to the WT system, but practice, practice, practice.

There are a number of books on how to build a family tree, several should be at your local public library, and you can also get them at most bookstores, and, of course, at online bookstores. These will be general, covering all ethnicities, or focused covered a specific country (for example).

Your public library may have a docent to help with your genealogy, the volunteers at any LDS Family History Center will be glad to help, or there may be a genealogical society in your city or county which will have people to help. Talking with someone is probably the best way to start.

There are lots of free resources, and ways to access some of the leading subscription sites for free (some public libraries and any LDS Family History Center).

At some point you may want, or need, a genealogy program to organize your data. You can try out different ones at the Family History Centers, some programs have a free trial version you can use on your home computer.

As you start gathering data, be sure to record where it came from. Sources are important and are what determines that your information is correct.

The best place to start is with what you have at home and can learn from older family members.

Best of luck!

Hello,

Its not hard at all - Just finish getting set up and by volunteering - https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Volunteers

Then sign the Honor Code and you are good to go.

Then you will be able to start adding family.

Please reach out on G2G if you come across anything you are unsure of.
