Looking for Jane NEWALL of Roxburghshire.

(I may have asked this already.) My remotest Australian ancestor in my direct line is William Laidlaw, Laidlaw-619, born about 1786 in Scotland, probably in the Dumfries/Roxburghshire region, who migrated to Victoria, Australia.  I thought that he was the son of William Laidlaw, born 1759, [Laidlaw-405] but _that_ William married Jane Fisher, and my man's mother was Jane NEWALL. The surname Newall is more common than I believed.  The full story is on Laidlaw-405.  Any help appreciated.

Do you have exact birth date Jane Newall.i do see one in

Scotland but not born Roxburghshire.
Afraid not, Wayne.  I can find no evidence of Jane.  According to the son's death cert (prepared from Infirmary records,) he was born in "Thomastown."  There is one in Aberdeenshire, but I have looked there.  Dates on Ancestry.com are for Jane Fisher. The son's marriage certificate (which he was alive to confirm) says he was born in Dumfries-shire, aged 24 in 1870.  His death cert says he was 76 when he died in 1920 in an infirmary.  My father's family Bible has disappeared over the years.
Ancestry.com found her.  I am now looking for her husband.
I eventually tracked down her husband. He came alone, several years later.  The shipping list for the Fergusons shows that he did not come over with them.  The original account is fiction, as so many are.

I haven't forgotten your reply, Marion, but I need to look more closely.  The Fisher surname looks as though it is the family I originally thought I belonged to.
Ancestry.com has now found Jane Newall in a Scottish census: see [[Newall-79|Jane (Newall) Laidlaw (abt.1794-)]].  I now have to prove that their son William was the immigrant to Victoria, Australia.
