I'd like to join the Australia project, please.

My 3rd Great Grandparents arrived in Australia in 1827 - my 3GGF Robert Hardy (wife Diana/Dinah and daughter Mary Ann) was contracted to the AAC as a quarryman stonemason. Robert & Dinah's son Robert married Mary Dowling, an Earl Grey Scheme Irish Famine Orphan per the Thomas Arbuthnot on Feb 1850, and son Robert's 2nd wife was the daughter and niece of two other Irish Famine Orphans, Elizabeth and Sarah Mackey from the Cootehill/Cavan Workhouse, arriving in Sydney per the John Knox in April 1850.

Yes, Gillian asked me if I would join.  I have researched mainly the eastern states, but  most stories that aren't already adequately covered, begin in South Australia.  There are a sprinkling of convicts.

For all of us, what on earth is a PM? I don't speak Newspeak.

Sorry Doug, a private message blush

Needs to be differentiated from the PM that is a Profile Manager.  cheeky

Hi Doug - all good, you’re already an Australia Project member, which is why I contacted you. That’s about us getting more organised!! You can sit back and relax.

Hi, I'd like to join too. I have already done work on a lot of family and friends families in Australia, with a strong emphasis in Victoria. I have been also working on a project at www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Molesworths_in_Australia .

I have a pet irritation, of people who set up profiles, often in a sketchy way, and then don't manage them, and won't free them up for others to manage them.

I seem to spend most of my time either on the Victorian BDM site, or Trove.

Feel free to look at the work I have tried to do on my own tree.

Ben.

OK, seems I need to join this group, yet dread the extra stuff in the daily email !

My main interest is working on passenger lists for all those ancestors arriving by boat. Find it currently confusing and messy, and certainly appreciate all the time already put into it, and thank those who have helped me.

Currently working on around seven sailings, transposing the passenger lists, reformatting into a searchable list, which I then add to the free pages and list under "sailed date" etc to link one or two of my profiles. (Last completed - Suffolk)

Does this help?
