Relationship Finder Nickname/First Name issue

Question

On the results screen from the relationship finder, Direct Relationship Found, nicknames appear to be used at the beginning of a line, i.e., John is the son of Humphrey Wheelock. Yet the line above it shows Ralph is the son of Joseph Wheelock.  Joseph Wheelock's proper first name is Joseph, but his nickname is John. On one line he is referred to as Joseph and in the next line down he is referred to as John.

This is confusing. I think both names should be consistent, i.e., either both Joseph (proper first name), or both John (nickname). I am guessing anytime there is a nickname, this will happen. In this case the profiles were Joseph (aka John) Wheelock-76, son of Humphrey Wheelock-120.

John is set as the Preferred Name for Wheelock-76. That is probably the field that is used by the Relationship Finder.

If that is the case, it seems to me it should be used in both lines referring to him - not just one.

Using a consistent name display within the Relationship Finder feature would certainly make sense.

This was fixed with the recent Relationship Finder update.

Thanks for pointing it out, S. I've added it to the list of other suggestions/fixes for that page.

Right now the left side is using the Preferred first name, and the right side is using either the Long Name or Short Name depending on privacy (see name displays). So I think there will be a mismatch on any Open profile that has a different Preferred name.
