Have you considered adding a trusted list that enables us to add persons to see a profile but not make any changes?

We could put those with Admin Privileges on the Trusted List and those with Guest Privileges on the Un-Trusted List. Wink, wink.

Unless you're referring to an Unlisted Profile, you can change the Privacy Levels to adjust what can be viewed.  Of course this makes the Profile's Privacy Level's view available to all and not just a specific person.

Personally, as we are a Shared and Open Tree, I feel all non Member Profiles and those that are not under the Unlisted Ruling should be set to Open or at least the Public Privacy Level.  The higher Privacy Levels are throwbacks to when there was no Unlisted Profile Level and these were needed to protect the data of those still living. JMHO

We cannot change the privacy of living persons not a member.  As a result, if we add someone to a trusted list, they can also change the profile.  I am looking at adding someone to a living profile in order that they can see the profile but not have change rights.

That's what I was wondering Gloria if you were speaking of an Unlisted Profile.  Short of George's idea, which is really a good idea, you could grant them Trusted List access with the express agreement that they make no changes without conferring with you first, whether this be to the Biography and Sources or Linking to another Profile.  If they should do so, you can use the Restore Function in the Changes Tab remove any changes or unlink a suspect Family Link and then remove them from the Trusted List.

If still unsure of their intentions, how about doing a Screen Print of the Profile and paste that from the Clipboard to an email and send them that for their perusal. They get to see the data, but can't change anything.
