Profile for the Prophet Muhammed

I discover that I'm profile manager of one profile for the Prophet Muhammed and on the trusted list for a second, so they need to be merged.  The profile with the more rudimentary biography has what I believe is the correct LNAB in Arabic -- it is the patronymic "ibn Abd Allah" (son of Abdullah) who was his actual father.  He was orphaned at the age of 5, so the other profile incorrectly makes him to be the son of his grandfather Muttabib.  So I propose to merge the better written profile into the one with the better LNAB and work from there.

(The G2G program, however, does not recognize an Arabic language LNAB.  The Arabic LNAB profile can be found at https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=بن_عبدالله-3&action=edit.  I'll link this note to the other profile!)

While I do not belong to the faith he founded, he is such an important person in the faiths of so many around the world that it is important to create a profile for him which is both historically and genealogically accurate and also respectful.  That's one reason for seeking the advice and inputs from others on this thread!

He is obviously very Notable as well, so the involvement of the Notables project is also more than welcome!

Excellent, Jack.  All the best with the (single) profile.  Yes, he deserves the respect of a solid profile, whether we agree with him or not.  Surely one of the top couple of dozen people of note in history.
Good show Jack!
On Eddie's comment, the article on the Nike controversy doesn't explain that in traditional Arab culture, the soles of one's feet are unclean, and showing someone the sole of your foot is an insult. Remember when an Iraqi journalist threw a shoe at President Bush?. Intentionally putting the name of God on the sole of your shoe is akin to spitting (or worse) on a holy book.

Not that I think that was Nike's intent, but at least now you know why it's not a good look to many.
Yes, so sitting in an Arab context in which the bottom of your shoe is visible or pointed at the other guests insults them.

To bring this back on topic, one of the clear objectives of this posting is to solicit any advice which could keep this profile in particular from being inadvertently disrespectful -- although we would of course which that no profile on WikiTree is disrespectful.
The Project Box should be changed to the sticker, since it trips suggestion 931.

The profile should definitely be project protected. Unless being pre-1500 somehow negates that need?

Project protection protects the LNAB and relationships from change.  I do believe pre-1500 profiles have less need of project protection since the number of persons who are able to edit these early profiles in anyway is limited.  But once this profile is somewhat up to speed, it surely deserves project protection.
Jack, I don't think pre-1500 sufficiently protects the profile by virtue of the qualifications of those who are able to edit it.  I may be wrong, but I believe that we still have pre-1500 profiles being created by gedcoms or at least matches being made between gedcom profiles and existing WikiTree profiles, in which the WikiTree profiles get updated with the content of the gedcom ones.  Nobody asked my opinion of this, which is that it stinks, but since I'm not even pre-1700 certified, my opinion shouldn't be worth a whole lot anyhow.
Gaile, I think I can offer you good news on this -- others who know more can correct me -- pre-1500 Gedcom imports are now absolutely forbidden, and I think we are or have moved to banning pre-1700 Gedcom imports.

I agree that his LNAB should be ibn 'Abd Allah. Note the apostrophe in 'abd, unless it will break the LNAB field since it's part of the index value in WikiTree. I don't think it will, but I'm not positive. Typical surname/patronym confusion could be the result of the other profile's LNAB ("His father's name was ibn Muttabib, so...").

On بن_عبدالله-3, I honestly don't remember the WikiTree standard best practice for foreign character set names as LNABs. They're all definitely the same guy! It does need either merging or correcting, because while Muslims generally always add صلي الله عليه وسلم after his name (ṣalla Allāhu ʿalayhi wa sallam, "may the blessings of God and peace be upon him", often abbreviated in English as PBUH), it's not actually his name. I think there's definitely room in the bio to explain that, too. Many western articles on the Prophet seem to do the same. I think doing so (PBUH in the text, but not the name field) is a good middle ground.

As I explore this, I realize there is an additional wrinkle -- each of the current WikiTree profiles for the prophet Muhammed have lines of ancestry back to the beginning of the Common Era.  600 years at 4 generations per year, that's about 24 generations of ancestors.  One of the lines is in roman script and the other of the lines are in Arabic script.  Murphy's law says that on examination the lines would be proved to be similar but not identical.

As a Project Coordinator for "Ancient Royals" which is the project most likely to handle all these people, my word on this realization is simple:  "Help!"

Did this ever come to any conclusion?

There are still two profiles for the Prophet.

I have no cogent opinion about the LNAB, but isn't it time to get them merged?

The Prophet Muhammad and I share the same ancestor Atika (bani Quys Aylan) bint Murrah my 43rd great grandmother who was abd Shams mother. He was my 42nd great grandfather so the Prophet Muhammad and I are 3rd cousins more than 40 times removed according to wiki tree. The descent is from my ancestor Abigail (Hopton) Stillwell. Nichlas Stillwell came here to America with his two sons after Abigail died. Abigail's ancestor King Henry's wife Eleanor (Provence) and then from her ancestor Bellon (Carcassine) de Barcelona's wife Urgel-Cerdanya and her father's ancestors led me to the Prophet.

I am a 3rd cousin and more than 40 times removed from the Prophet Muhammad. He descends from one twin and I descend from the other twin brother.
