A Funny Obituary - I Want Mine to be Like This

We're often too serious here in g2g, but I saw this obit in my Facebook feed.

http://www.nashuatelegraph.com/obituaries-memorials/obituaries/2019/07/25/thomas-tomm-wj-mulligan/

It's from the Nashua, NH Telegraph, and this man's daughters wrote it as a tribute to him. Hope it makes you giggle, laugh, guffaw, roll your eyes, etc.

Cheers and happy weekend!

It was also mentioned in Eastman's Online Genealogy Newsletter a couple of weeks ago.
Oh! Now I know what THAT is! LOL.

I tried to read your link.  It said "Unavailable due to legal reasons".cheeky

That's odd because it worked fine for me.
I think you may be in the same country as the link.  I am in England.
I could read it.

What fun........ I'd guess  "his favorite daughter" wrote it.

"Thomas (Tomm) WJ Mulligan of Nashua has passed away at home in his recliner as he had threatened to for years.

He was a kid from Brooklyn who grew up to live the American Dream of marriage, a career, a house in the suburbs and two pain in the ass kids. He attended Bishop Ford High School.

He was a DIYer with no less than five unfinished projects at any time.

Tomm worked in technology at Lahey Clinic for over 20 years where he was clearly indispensable but his exact position remains a mystery. He never missed the opportunity to make an inappropriate joke or take a cigarette break. He was an exceptional office Santa.

His passions included comic books, playing the lotto and making his children uncomfortable. He also really loved cheese.

His love of Doctor Who was only surpassed by his love of not wearing pants at home. He often combined these two interests.

Tomm had spent the last few years lovingly caring for his wife, Iris, who has advanced dementia. He will be remembered by all who knew him, Except Iris of course. Everyone else though.

He is survived by his wife, Iris Mulligan; his favorite daughter Kim Mulligan of L.A.; his other daughter Amy Schiripo and her husband Alex of Dracut; his grandchildren Xander and Alana Schiripo to whom Tomm was devoted; his brother Keith Mulligan and niece Mariah Borthwick of Brooklyn."

Thanks, Nat!
You're welcome, Ros.
"He was a DIYer with no less than five unfinished projects at any time."

Classic!

A lot of love went into that obit.
I agree Alex...... I readily relate to the  "no less than five" unfinished projects at a time,  for one of my loved ones!!

To me it seems,  the father Tomm has instilled a great sense of humor in his offspring!   What a gift to give.
Ah, I clicked on it and no problem with with seeing and reading it.

I had the same problem as Ros sad xxx

I share the same passion: making my children uncomfortable. ;-)  It's not worth it unless I get an "Oh, MOM!" and an eyeroll.

My daughter’s motto on her coat of arms (crossed).

Those girls must have really loved him to write such a wonderful tribute. Hope mine’s like that.
Right? I just watched a TV interview with the girls. Made me smile.
The last lines of my Obit will be.

LJ's cremated remains will be flushed at his Sister's house on Saturday the 28th at noon.  All are welcome to attended his send off.  Those unable to attend, please feel free to flush your toilets at that time in his memory.
Ha.I would participate in the group flush!

You're just too good to me Natalie.  yessmiley

Yes the intended "giggle, laugh, guffaw, roll your eyes, etc."  was achieved.   I too, think his favorite daughter wrote this.  What a wonderful tribute to her Dad, I think he was much loved (at least I hope so).

I think the other daughter wrote it.  It seems a little rude to publicly call oneself the favorite.
Well, publicly praising one's self is socially acceptable compared to some of the other shenanigans done publicly that one hears about ... yes.

He’s my kind of guy!

To have written such an obit shows the love his children had for him.

This one is also pretty fabulous; glad to hear Barbara made it to that "Louis XIII style chaise lounge" in the sky!

Natalie, what did the daughters say in the TV interview?  Did they write the obituary together?  I had wondered if they knew how widely the obituary had been read and enjoyed.  Apparently they do.
