Is there another way to access Census Records before 1840 whose image is not available on FamilySearch?

I am verifying family history with census records. The index for census records before 1850 on FamilySearch is great, but I can't access the images to get more information.  I am trying to verify what other sources list online as well as a hand-me-down genealogy book.

My current sources are listed on James York's profile, but I didn't include any census data before 1840 until I can verify it.

Here is an online resource I was double checking: http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=bruceyork&id=I58153&style=TABLE

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Stormy,

(a) Most/all of the filmed population schedules from the U.S. federal census 1790-1930  (unindexed) were digitized by Internet Archive/Allen County (Indiana) Public Library. The digitized materials are online at Internet Archive.org. Generally, you can use the information from FamilySearch's index to navigate to the census page image.

Main Allen County Pubic Library page at Internet Archive

Helpful tips for navigating the unindexed images found on the FamilySearch wiki, "Finding a person in the 1930 Census (Even without an index)."

(b) Heritage Quest, available via a local library online portal to many in the United States makes most, but not all U.S. federal census available online.

Thanks for the links!
That is a fabulous way to get around the free census circuits ! Thanks, GeneJX !
Wow!  Awesome GeneJ
Great links Gene!  I use these all the time.

Familysearch has all of the U.S. Census indexed for free, so I search first on Familysearch and then when I want to see an image that isn't on Familysearch, I then go to the images on Internet Archive.

Too good not to add to the US Census category page. Thx!

The Access Genealogy Website has many records including the Census's on thier site for free.  the link below will take you to the Individual States, click the state you want and it will bring you to all the census data's that they have available to view for that state, you can also search the site by names, topics, etc..great site for free public records info
