Does this create a problem for Wikitree?
I don't think so.  The press releases state FGS plans to still hold their conference in 2020 in Kansas City, Missouri.  The merge would occur afterwards.  FGS will continue their digitization of the War of 1812 pensions with NARA, and to provide assistance to genealogical societies through NGS.
I think this is a good thing.  We are so much better when we all work together!  -NGP
