Saddle up and help revitalize the Wild Wild West Project, one of the wildest rides on WikiTree!

The Wild Wild West project is for those who have WikiTree profiles or are interested in creating profiles of notable people from the period of US western expansion between 1800-1925. This includes anyone that would be found in Wikipedia, known in popular culture, made significant contributions to the Wild West, or held a position of acknowledged local prominence in the Wild Wild West. These folks are often referred to as legends.

To join, please Answer this post and let us know your particular area of interest be it lawmen, gunslingers, soiled doves, bounty hunters, outlaws, and more. And, yeah, some of these legends fit into several of those categories at the same time.

Then, look here for some other start-up tips.

I have several ancestors who were involved in the Wild, Wild, West. Several were Mormons, who went to Utah, including one who was involved with the Golden Spike ceremony, and another who was a soldier in the Mormon Battalion. A couple were soldiers who were involved in operations in the West, in the Mexican American War and mostly before and during the Civil War. One was a ancestor who moved to Kansas between 1870 and 1875, and finally there was one outlaw in the family that I know of.

Are you interested in joining this project?
Yes, I am.
Great. Ellen will set you up with the badge and thanks for adding yourself the project participants. Please let me know if you are working on anything in particular or have some ideas.

Hi, I'd like to join. I work mainly with all the old post cemetery burials that were relocated to Ft. McPherson National Cemetery at various times. Currently working on trying to finish up Moses Embree "California Joe" Milner profile and trying to get him connected.

I'm interested in covering all states starting with Nebraska and going West, as well as the States directly North and South of Nebraska.

I recently entered a profile for my mom's sisters husband's dad - https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Sutley-77 is right up this alley, according to his biography - I have a lot to add but I gave it a bare bones bio and it is a rootin tootin guy that saw a lot of action!

Hello! I'm interested in lawmen and outlaws! I've some colorful relatives and watching my family move west from New York to California in 1907 with stops in Missouri and Colorado in between! I've added the project tag to my profile. Let me know how I may be of help.

I need to start sourcing my own tree here soon! LOL

Howdy! May I join the Wild West Project? I might have a few homesteaders, grub-stakers, cattlemen and sod-busters for rememberin' purposes. Right nice to meet you!

Hi, I would like to join the project and the sub project of Trails and Wagon Trains. I descend from Elkanah & Mary (Richardson) Walker some of the first missionaries to cross the Rocky Mountains and settle in the Oregon Territory. I am specifically interested in continuing to expand on my family tree and also to connect the western group with the eastern group of ancestors. My father (who was the direct descendant) is Walker-40865. His DNA test is associated with his profile.

I would appreciate it if you would consider adding me to the project.

Thanks,

Miriam

Thanks, Will. I have added him to Wild Wild West along with his places of birth and death. Something odd has happened to some of the subproject category pages but will get that sorted out.
