This is one of the few photos I have of my great grandparents, Efrosinia Kapasulios Panagakos and Stavros Panagakos. It was taken at their home in Petrina, Lakonia, Greece, on Pascha (Easter Sunday), sometime before 1950.  It is the custom of Greek Orthodox Christians to share dyed eggs on Pascha and proclaim Cristos Anesti! (Christ is risen!)

Wow Star what a treasure of a old photo you share of your great grandparents it is priceless thank You for sharing
Every Russian knows the tradition of giving eggs thanks to Greek Saint Cyrill who brought it when he Christianized the Russians.  The Russian Orthodox Church is the Russian version of the Greek Orthodox Church.

Cristos Anesti! becomes: Христос воскрес!

Christos Voskrec (Christ is Risen)

and it is even called Pascha too!

Great photo, thanks for sharing!

Hi everyone, this is my third time posting and I intend to continue with the challenge. :) This is a picture of my great grandmother Taimi (Santanen) Johnson. She was ill for a long time and lived at St. Anne's Hospital in Juneau, Alaska, where she was cared for by the Sisters of Saint Anne. As far as I know she was not Catholic herself. I enjoy the camaraderie you can see between the two women pictured.

This is my grandmother. I am not catholic, so I may be mistaken, but I believe this was communion.

The Old Blandford Church in Petersburg, Virginia is one of the most beautiful churches on the inside that I have ever visited.  It contains stained glass windows that Louis Tiffany created for all the Apostles, two square windows for two southern states that didn't want to pay for an Apostle but wanted to be included, and the final one that Tiffany gave as a gift. The gift window faces west and catches the sun as it sets. Whoever told you that stained glass windows should be flat was wrong. Each point in the gold cross in this window is pointed into the church and as the sun sets, each point pulses with the light coming in. Each of the Apostles windows is a miracle in glass making. For example, the robes are one piece of glass except where divided for stability with the colors in the robes blending into each other just right. The feet and hands are picked out in detail with subtle colors and additional details painted on. (I'm still searching for my picture of the Tiffany gift window)

When we travel we like to visit the local churches or Cathedrals or Abbey's

I also had the great pleasure of doing some work on Albino Luciani (1912 - 1978) - Pope John Paul 1

When I was in junior choir we brought our robes home once, one time only, to do a concert during the week. My mother took full advantage of the situation to take this picture.
