Challenge of the week: Improve orphaned profiles

Hi WikiTreers,

Will you join our "Data Doctors" Challenge of the week?

Once again, Aleš has come up with something to help us work together on a category of profiles that need our help. This time it's "orphans," i.e. profiles without Profile Managers.

Here is the list of orphaned profiles that could use some TLC.

Will you join us?

Every time you record a status update it will earn you a point. The member with the most points at 11:59pm EDT on Sunday night will get the Winner badge this week and the bragging rights. But we'll all benefit from a neater, cleaner shared tree.

If you're participating, please post here to let us know. It's nice to cheer each other on. Or post if you have any questions about how to participate.

Thanks for helping!

PS If you want to chat or coordinate what you are working on with others, in addition to this G2G post there is a handy spreadsheet courtesy of Steven Tibbetts.

I will do some

Thank you. I will help add missing/required Biography, Sources headings, and <references /> tag(s).

I've looked at a few of these, and from the few hints available - like a "private father" was born in the 1930s or 1940s, I'm getting the feeling that the ones I've looked at are living people. Their names are coming up on google searches as if they were living people - what do you suggest?

Whenever I run across an orphan that is in one of my family lines, I almost always adopt it so I can clean it up, and add additional sources.

I've been working on 133, No Dates; Dates on Relatives for a while, so I'm going to keep working on that.

I'll do some empty profiles.  Starting with John Chellenge, how appropriate.

I routinely adopt all the orphans I can find with surnames I have.  Then over time I fix them as best I can then unadopt the ones not related to make room for the next batch.  It took me over a year to get all the suggestions fixed with my first batch.  I had over 250 suggestions that came along with them!  This batch I am now down to 22 left to fix.

Will work on them later this week.  Still working of a few things from last week...
