How can we add a new place name to the automatic suggestion lists?

I've come across a number of people who were born, lived or died in what was once Moscow, Livingston County, New York. The suggestion that always comes up is Leicester, Livingston County, New York. A bit of historical searching tells me that Leicester was originally called Moscow, and the village Moscow burned pretty much to the ground in mid-June, 1900, after which it appears to have been rebuilt, but also renamed. It's no great trouble to enter "Moscow, Livingston, New York" on a profile, but it might be helpful if the choice of "Moscow, Livingston, New York to June 1900" could be added to the list.

smiley I think, Laurie, the gist is that since WT "borrows" the location list from www.familysearch.com (this is a tech thing and done by some tech magic, IMO) that one would have to approach www.familysearch.com about this matter. Surely they have an "office" that can address your suggestion and / or rectify their list? I would hope so.

The list is not Wikitree's, it is FamilySearch's.

As everyone said, the dropdown comes from FamilySearch. You can request that a place be added or changed in FS's database by emailing PlaceFeedback@familysearch.org with all of the relevant details. Any updates may take a while to show up on WikiTree, though: much of the places editing is done by volunteers, and then the change has to "propagate".

I had this problem with a place name which existed for over 70 years, but was replaced with a different name.  I contacted Family Search about it.  I haven't noticed if it's an option yet or not, but the "sister" who answered my chat question said she'd refer it and my documentation to the technical team.
