Micheal appears to be my 15th cousin twice removed via the common ancestor the First Earl of Pembroke "Black William." There are a few connections on my lineage to Black William that should be explored further, a 16th ggf I have not before looked at.

Gotta love WikiTree. The first investigation into the ancestral line leading to the common ancestor above resulted in the detachment of the line. Now WikiTree shows us having a common 16th great grandmother and as 17th cousins. Another line requiring investigation but 509 common ancestors something is bound to be actually documented!

ooh T - Black William is one of mine too! (And Michael and I are also cousins.. and connection is 23 degrees.)

During 2018's 52 ancestors... He was my answer for Week 4 (January 22-28): Invite to Dinner

Oh, Liz. I am sad to say I have debunked the WikiTree connection between myself and Black William! However, there are so many common ancestors (509! crazy) in that time period when I get back to that I think he'll be related in some manner. The profile does not speak to the nickname. Do you know what that's all about?

Maybe you were looking at his son's profile? It's in his...

Fighting for the first Yorkist king of England, Edward IV, "Black William of Raglan [had] driven Earl Jasper from the land, taken his title and his earldom [Pembroke] from him, and captured Henry Tudor, and held him prisoner in Raglan."[4]

27 steps . . . what else is new?!

I noticed something interesting though.  Most connections go through the Chilcoats to my mother's line even though my PATERNAL great-grandmother is a Chilcoat.  Can we talk tangled intermarriages?  Until I studied a couple of these connections, I didn't realize the maternal line also had Chilcoats.

Four common ancestors were found between me, Norman Walters-5441 within 15 generations. We are 13th cousins. One of the common ancestors is George Waldegrave of Smallbridge, Essex, England. He is a 12th great grandfather of both of us.
