Unclear handwriting: anyone wanna take a shot at it? [closed]

I've been able to decipher nearly all of this death certificate (this is a direct link to image on Ancestry, if you can see it). I'm having trouble with the "Immediate cause of death" in the right column of the certificate. This is what I can read it as so far: Gunshot wound of abdomen + irreversible(?) ___________.

As an aside, I've never seen a "USUAL RESIDENCE OF DECEASED" as detailed as this one: R. F. D. #3. Cross railroad turn to Rt. at Hollins crossing.

Thanks!

Hi Pip, I do not have an Ancestry account so can not look at the image of the death certificate. I can look at it as a screenshot/snippet if you would like then delete the snippet.
Looks like gun shot wound of abdomen and legs and irreversible shock.
Great title, asking folks to take a shot at figuring out the effects of the shot.

Accidental. I’m not that clever! laugh

The second word is Stomach. It goes with Perforated Stomach written below it.
In the Major findings section, the words are  "Perforation of Stomach [illegible word] & laceration of liver"

I think the illegible word is some kind of reference to intestines...got it!  "Jejunum."  Isn't Google great?
Thanks, Dallace! I couldn't find it there.
Excellent detective work, Julie! That's the word, jejunum.

Gunshot wound of abdomen + legs & irreversible shock.

Although I think it is spelt irreversable on the document.

(As Dallace said .. it is clearer on FS: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-L9GZ-8XBG?i=678&cc=1417492&personaUrl=%2Fark%3A%2F61903%2F1%3A1%3AFG18-WBQ

Yes, Melanie, I'm sure you're right, except that the "c" with the line above it stands for "with," doesn't it?

Yes it does Julie. smiley

Thanks, Melanie. Solves the mystery. Along with the laceration of the liver, I think that blood loss led to shock. Not sure that Uncle Johnny would have survived even today with those kinds of injuries.

Sorry couldn't do more .. or respond sooner, but I was *gasp* out of the house surprise and on spotty internet.

Also some times the International Classification of Diseases code can be useful, although this one, 166, is just homicide by firearms.

See the lists by year here.
