John Patrick Ryan (dob 1914/02/20) emigrated to Northern Rhodesia from South Africa around 1946/7 after WW 2.   Before is death in Zambia he held a British passport as he had received citizenship from Britain.  His military regiment during WW 2 was Durban Light Infantry .  To date I have not been able to find his birth registration details as well as his death certificate.  I would be very grateful for your assistance and guidance in this matter.  Thank you Toni Grey  (Ryan)

Considering you are the child of the deceased, and 1965 is fairly recent, you can still try the embassy.

Unfortunately, this page appears to have a cutoff of 1973 although it's a referral to the birth certificate procedures. This is the embassy in the US, I am not sure which country you are in.

I am not familiar with specific borders and governments in Africa so perhaps there is another nation's option.

I just remember the basic procedure I had to follow to get a copy of my foreign-born dad's birth certificate. (Who was born in 1945.)
