From the research of a Josette Maxwell it seems you are correct.
George and Sarah were my ggrandparents and I am heading back to Stubenville to see if I can back track this whole thing. If I come up with anythinf definitive I'll let you know.
This is a copy of Josette Maxwell's information
Nancy Maxwell m. John BROWNLEE in 1806 (Brooke County WV) and had three children:
John Brownlee who I think m. Phoebe Prosser, James who I think m. Alvinira ?,
and Nancy Brownlee who marries Henry Maxwell.
They are all in Brooke County WV in 1850.
John Brownlee dies in 1852 and Nancy Maxwell Brownlee files pension
papers (War of 1812) stating her residence to be Jefferson County Ohio.
Marriage records as follows in Jefferson County: Thomas Brownlee m.
Mary McKim 1877 Rachael A. Brownlee m. Austin Robb 1867 Daniel Brownlee m.
Annie Risden 1866 Sarah Brownlee m. George Debee 1871.
James Brownlee m. Ann Lee 1857 THese are some but not all of the children of
John Brownlee m. Phoebe - right ages to have been married at these dates.
Looking for any information anyone may have. My Maxwell line, by the way, goes back to Henry and Agness Carson Maxwell who came to the US c. 1741 as children. THey had seven sons (Robert, Thomas, Samuel, Walter, John, James and Henry) and 48 grandchildren. Robert/Thomas/ James/Henry were c. 1800 settlers in
eastern Ohio.
