Uploaded, Downloaded GeoFile

Question

I am unsure of what I have done trying to make a copy of my Geo thingy. Came up I was trying to download a geofile from wikitree to wikitree. I now am totally confused as to what I have done when all I wanted to do was make a geofile .gen. into my documents for backup or use later. I have tried to master the use of upload and downloads. Seems I am failing miserably. lol

Do you mean “gedcom” file?

This page https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Exporting_a_GEDCOM will provide some general information. If you scroll down to the bottom of the page there is a link for information about exporting data from WikiTree. This should help.

If you then import the WikiTree gedcom into another program, your reports will not look like WikiTree profiles because of how WikiTree generates a gedcom file and how that file is imported into your software.
