How often has this happened to you?

I wrote a bio for one of my gg-uncles, Lon Patterson, nice narrative and inline sources, including the possibility that the grandchildren in the household in 1930 were possibly the children of one of his sons living there.

I wrote a bio for a son, Richard, who I though was not living with Lon in 1930 (said so in his bio). Nice narrative and inline sources.

I find a nice list of children in 1940 for Richard, and find out that the children living with his father in 1930 were his! He was also in the 1930 with his dad with his middle name as the first name.

Now I have to go back and rewrite several paragraphs over again to include this "new" information that was right there in front of my face!

I wasn't wearing my good luck WikiTree t-shirt. I need a drink.

Pip, just consider it an opportunity to practice your typing skills...

Good one Robin

I'm ready for voice command WikiTreeing!
Voice command wikitree. It's an interesting concept but sure to get me in trouble. Sometimes the reactions to mistakes make me errrr ummmm less than ladylike.
Hahahaha!!!! Me, too!

Pip, love the photo! Just how I have felt on many occasions!

Just this past week, while working on a new line for our niece, I did a brief biography based on a census record where the female head of household was 29 years old (already a widow) and had the proper seven year old son. But, also there were children ranging in age from 19, 17 , 15 and down to the seven year old. I thought those older ones must have been the children from the first marriage of the husband. WRONG!! When I found two more census records for the wife - her age was totally wrong on that 1850 census. She was definitely the mother of those children. So, back to all the bios to fix that information!!

Ginny, that photo most often expresses my emotion when I can't find a source! laugh

I am currently working on Dyall, Doyle, Diel, etc.... - pick one because sometimes they are the same family and sometimes not.  For the 1901 Canada Census, all the original family names are there and then some.  ALL are listed as his children.  Right now I am thinking he had kids with another woman/women and brought them in for current wife to take care of them... but that is speculation until I can find where they come from.  So yes pulling hair out wondering .... Luckily no bio's written.  Glad I am not having to practice my typing skills.

No practice, but you might need to hunt for hair replacements!
Perhaps he had a "family on the side", or perhaps they were orphaned nieces and nephews he had taken in.
@ Robin - haha.

@ Jessica: yup, anything is possible.
