according to Family Finder, Judy and I are 13th cousins once removed.... I'm not sure how we figure "degrees".  Ok, I just read an article on "degrees".  Still not understanding about it but Judy and I share a common ancestor, one Henry Rice Mason.  He is my 13th great grandfather but is Judy's 12th great grandfather.  So, does that mean Judy and I are 13 degrees from each other?  Or 12?

 Took a look at Gumm-43 and Smith-157141 and how we are "related" and we're 12th Cousins 1 removed ... all apparently seemingly due to edward aston-82 through his son Walter and several of his children (judy from one, myself from another) -- with a great deal of uncertainty for each of us 

With THAT much "confidence" and $7 I could get a pretty decent cuppa from the local Starbucks ... LOL

I know that I’m fairly close in relation....my mom was a Gumm aka my grandad was a Gumm. I’ve only heard Judy/Frances is like the cousin to my great Uncle or something like that.
