Mayflower Families

I see two categories for mayflower passengers and mayflower families I assume from that, only people that were documented on the vessel would be in the first passenger category.  Do we have any standards for who gets added to the families category?  Is there a standard source which should be in those profiles?

Thanks!

I always thought it was the immediate family for the "Mayflower Families"

As in the Cooke line the wife and children came latter in another ship.

I went to the Mayflower Society page and here is how they determine eligibility.

Eligibility & Passengers

You are eligible to join the Society of Mayflower Descendants if you can document your descent from one or more of the passengers on the Mayflower voyage of 1620 that terminated on the shores of New England at Plymouth.  and are 18 years of age or older.

Here is a link to the site.
Sorry about the font.
And according to research my relationship to Mercy Standish is

Mercy Standish

Relationship to you: wife of 1st cousin 9x removed

Which I don't think would qualify me.

When I do Mayflower descendants, I mark the passenger, spouse, children and grandchildren.

The WikiTree Mayflower users google group seems to have limited its scope to 3 generations.

Sounds good to me. Could we put this comment on the category page for Mayflower families?
