Do we have anyone that can read text from the 1600's, I have a couple of documents that could be one of my Great (etc) Grandfathers, I can make sense of a few words, but the rest is gobbledygook (links to the images below

Will

Thanks

The problem with older documents in another language can be difficult to translate for several reasons.

I found 'Love Letters' from my grandmother and grandfather to each other before they were married, written in French. Even though I have had several people look at them that are fluent in French, most cannot be translated. Their French in the late 1800's is different depending on what part of France/Canada they were from. The French I learned growing up in the 60's was different from what my mother learned from her parents.

In the letters that I have, my grandfather was taking a train on Sunday to see my grandmother so they could get married. The writing was very small and most was illegible, unfortunately.
I've ben able to do the first line and a half of the will I think..

"In the name of God Amen the fifteenth days of may in the year of our lord christ one thousand six hundred eighty and four, I Henry Creed of Fairford in the County of Gloster"..

Looks like here is a standard intro to old wills. I think children’s names are Alexander, Deborah, Elizabeth, and Susannah. Difficult to tell what is being bequeathed, though I see that word here and there.

The executrix is wife, Susannah.

I believe it is English, but I can read only certain words.
Definitely English
Yup, believe it or not, it's English: "... and ... Inventory of all and singular the goods cattle and chathells of ..."
