Garnet (t) Holmes maybe morphed from Homesley was born in about 1776 in perhaps Cumberland Virginia. He died before 1880 with the name of Holmes in Randolph County Alabama. If indeed the morphed name is correct, his father may have been Benjamin Homesley (1748-1824) who married Jemiama Self (?-1820), or his brother Joseph Homesley (1750-1799) who married Mary Smith (1754-1824).
Another item is Y DNA that matches no Holmes family in Family Tree Maker Database.
The research has indicate4 that Garnet was married more than once. One child named Elias Ephriam Homesley abt 1796-married Oliss (1802-?) about 1820 (?)..
Lawson (Losson) B. Holmes 1803-1887 Born in NC. married Lucinda Barnes (1820-1890) 1834 in Carroll Georgia Lawson B died in DeKalb Ala.
Two other sons James Holmes (Homes, Holms) was born 1805-abt 1892) married first to Mary McDonald (?)
I really would like some "fresh eyes" on this. I have written many genealogies, but this one of my own is a real challege. Thanks
