I am sure I have generated a number of duplicate entries with the gedcoms I've uploaded -- is there a way to generate a list of likely/potential mergers?

You sure can! http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Special:FindMatches

That link can be reached by clicking Find Matches under Find in the top right of the screen, or through the "search for potential duplicates" link on your Watchlist page.
