Al, if you have identified two different profiles that you are sure are for the same person, then you should propose a merge.  WikiTree only permits one profile per person because we all share the same big, huge, tree here.  If you'd like some help with the merge, please post back here.

Another thing about the way we do things here is that nobody "owns" a profile, even though you will see profile managers.  For more recent profiles that may be private, only people on the "trusted list", which includes the manager(s), can see everything in them and can also work on them.  Older profiles are required to have privacy set to "open", which allows all members to work on them.

The way to proceed is to make what is called a "trusted list request" for your ancestor's profile.  If you paste the following in your browser's address space changing the red text to the WikiTree ID of your ancestor, it will automatically send a trusted list request to the profile manager.  Make sure to include the information that you are a relative.

Oh, by the way, Welcome to WikiTree - and feel free to ask here about anything you'd like to know or need help with.
