Can we have a template for "GEDCOM Junk" profiles?

I am making slow, painful headway in clearing up all my profiles that are full of "GEDCOM Junk". The new GEDCOMJUnk search in WikiTree+ is a great help (thanks again).  I have noticed, however, that partially tidied profiles may not be picked up by the search.  Could we have a GEDCOM Junk template to mark the profiles that need more work?

I noticed today some are erasing the "This person was created through the import of". Now it is in the History for the profile, but aren't we suppose to be leaving that on the profile?

There are already categories for this type of profile, so would they meet your needs? The one for the profile you linked would be Category: Cheshire, Needs Gedcom Clean Up

Thanks, Paul, That's exactly what I need! I've just tried a WikiTree+ text search for "Needs Gedcom Clean Up" and it works. Wahay! Only 49 profiles have the category though, so it seems this is not widely know about.

Yes, a category is what is needed to mark it for cleanup later.  A template would just be more clutter on the junk cheeky

Amusing idea, but it seems to me they're either Unsourced or not.  If they're not unsourced, then presumably they are real people.  Most profiles could use more work, probably, but why single these out?

Julie, gedcom junk may or may not be sourced. They're profiles created back in the day before gedcom uploads were reformatted. They look horrid.
I agree.  I think you mean that kind of stair-step look, with all the double headings and the slashes still between the first and last name, etc.?  I know there are lots of them.

A new suggestion has been implemented for "GEDCOM junk." I don't know the number (just tried to search and couldn't find it, so it may not have been added to the DBE page.) Aleš Trtnik mentioned it in his weekly Data Doctors update. But the main reason I know is because I had that suggestion this week. I don't do GEDCOM imports, but a profile I had adopted back in May still had GEDCOM junk in it and I had neglected to get back to it to clean it up so I got the "GEDCOM junk" suggestion this past week. I know this may not be as good as a template, but it does show up in suggestions now. Maybe one of the DataDoctors can tell us what number suggestion it is.

Thanks, Margaret!

Yes, you're right, Nelda. This is the GEDCOMJunk search I was referring to.  To use it, once in WikiTree+, you have to first close the "Suggestions" section, which opens by default. Then open the "Search" section. In this section (not "Suggestions, as you my expect), in the "Text Search" box enter: "GEDCOMJunk your-profileID". Press "Get profiles". Bob's your uncle!

Sorry, Chris. I didn't read your first post carefully. I see now you want something in addition to this.

What part of the Rose profile are you assuming to be GEDCOM Junk? Do you have the phrase

This biography was auto-generated by a GEDCOM import. Cleanup is underway...

in mind?

I have also a list of profiles using that phrase.  But that just means, that the Bio wasn't rewritten.

This is an example of a profile where I started the clean up by removing the most obvious "junk" but did not have time to do any more. Now that I have a bit more time, I want to find these profiles again to finish the tidy up. The most glaring things to me are: The strange Note: #Nnnnn links that go nowhere; the "No NOTE record found with id..." entries in the sources; horrible structure of the sources. Although it my not be strictly necessary, I am also doing some reformating to make the profiles more pleasant to read and, where possible, adding sources from free sites, such at FamilySearch and FreeBMD.  Perhaps "junk" is not the right word, but profiles like this really do need more tidying up.
The "Needs Gedcom Clean Up" category, suggested by Paul, above, does the job nicely. When I come across profiles in need of further clean up, I can add this category, making them easy to find again in the furture.

I would toss the Ancestry links, keep The Family History Society of Cheshire, add the two same Census that are on her fathers profile from Family Search, add her birth and death record that are on Family Search and inline cite them.
