Anyone with working knowledge of the Tyng family of Massachusetts?

Okay, so I'm tracking through my Smith family and found a bit of a snag.  My roadblock has to do with the wife of Reverend Thomas Smith of Falmouth (now Portland), Maine (still working on his profile, but his son is here: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Smith-67471.

I have several secondary sources (who may all be quoting each other) that indicate that Reverend Smith's wife was Sarah Tyng (one says Susan Tyng).  These sources all agree that Sarah (or Susan) was the daughter of a William Tyng.  Some of the sources say it was Major William Tyng, son of Col Jonathan Tyng: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Tyng-11, who appears to have lived most of his life in Dunstable/Tyngsborough, whereas the other sources refer to "William Tyng, Esq. of Woburn."  With Woburn being far enought away from Dunstable that I'm uncomfortable with this discrepancy.

Anyone have any insight or access to sources that might help?

Curiously there hangs a painting in my parent's home which was always refered to by my parents as "Leticia Tyng". It was purchased from an estate sale held by Skinner Auctioneers in the early 1970's. I looked at the back of it last summer and could find no Leticia Tyng. I am wondering if it came from the Tyng estate? - Brenna
Ooo, you've hit upon another of my interests, old family portraits.  I'd love to see a picture of it if you can take a digital one.  Does the painting give you any hints as to when it was painted?
Information I've gleaned from William Tyng's pages is that he came to America on 7-3-1638 on the Nicolas aka New Supply.

Does anyone have or know of a passenger list for this ship?  I've done dozens of searches online and on all the ship sources I've bookmarked  and can't seem to find a list.

Thanks,

Rebecca

I'm pretty sure I've answered my own question, upon reading the book which excerpts Reverend Thomas Smith's journals: http://books.google.com/books?id=iMRSAAAAcAAJ&pg=PA17#v=onepage&q&f=false Though the editor/author of this book didn't make the connection, on page 17, it clearly says that Reverend Smith is in possession of land passed down to the "heirs of Major Tyng". It then says Mr. John Tyng gave Reverend Smith's son Peter half of his share. William Tyng of Dunstable was referred to as Major Tyng, and his three children were John, Sarah and Mary. It's a bit of a mystery why Sarah Tyng's headstone indicates she was daughter of Wm. Tyng Esq. of Woburn

Circumstantially, in his inventory of property in 1742 just after Sarah died, Reverend Smith refers to property from "my Grandmother Clark". He had no Clarks in his immediate ancestry, but Major William Tyng's wife was Lucy Clark, daughter of Reverend Thomas Clark. The pieces are all fitting together. The Tyng history books also indicate that Sarah Tyng, daughter of Major William Tyng was Reverend Smith's wife.
