Diahann should be connected tonight through Vic Damone, then through one of his other wives (Becky Ann Jones). Not the ideal connection, but I'm also looking into adding as much of her family as I can manage. I've been able to research a decent amount of her family, including aunts/uncles and extending to cousins that will be good to have out there on the tree in case someone wishes to continue the research.

Just on a side note, I also have enough information to enter her 2nd husband, Fred Glusman, however, he is still living - as a matter of fact, he just celebrated his 80th birthday not terribly long ago in 2017. He's an interesting character and apparently the owner of a very nice Italian restaurant called Piero's in Las Vegas. Apparently Jerry Lewis is fairly well-known for visiting there as well as a number of other stars. I hate to enter another Private profile, but I suppose I can transfer it to Notables and then it will stay closed until he passes away one day.

Good work, Scott! If we make Glusman we can figure out if that stuff I linked above is related to him/add it to the tree if it is. That would really be helpful. Or it could be another Fred who we alsocould add as a rejected match? “Bernard Glusman was born in Zurich, Switzerland, in 1907, while his parents Leopold and Sima Glusman were en route to Germany from Russia. [...] Bernard Glusman’s son, Fred, was born in Germany in 1932. He came to America with his parents in 1937.“ not sure who could go find everything in Atlanta GA though...

Actually, Frederick Jack Glusman was born in Winnipeg in 1932 according to all the records I've been able to find. His father, Benjamin "Benny" Glusman was also born in Winnipeg in 1911. He died young in 1945 in Richmond, B.C., Canada from attempting to swim a raging river to save someone who was drowning. His father, Elisha Glusman, was born about 1880 in Russia.

I went ahead and entered Benny's profile, just in case you want to see the research.

Great work Scott!

She was a treasure.

My sister had the Julia doll that Mattel put out while that show was on television!

As far as I can tell, neither Diahann nor her former husband Vic Damone have profiles, although I could be wrong. I'll keep doing some hunting around, but we should be safe to start one for her.

Just to make it easier, I'll go ahead and get a starter profile out there for her.

Looks like her Wikipedia has parents listed: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diahann_Carroll

Added her profile to the G2G question. Since it's just a starter, there's plenty of things that can be done to help flesh out her profile, family, and maybe even a potential connection to the tree.
I'm just going to start with her first husband, Monte Kay, and see where that leads...
I connected the (unconnected) profile of Vic Damone/Vito Farinola to her profile. Going to try for DeLeon next.

FYI, Glusman is still living, but I believe this may be related to him, and I believe this is his current wife's mother

Kay/Kaplan's parents are from Russia or Poland, but either way dead end there. I was able to conflate and then fix two what appeared at first to be completely related profiles only to discover - they weren't at all. Oh well - guess I'll finish cleaning up this mess and look at Vic.

I heard about her death in the midst of travel to a conference and was very saddened. She was a wonderful actress and a trailblazer for African American women on television. Thank you for profiling.

Now that's exciting. I was investigating a G-Grandparent of Diahann, and curiously... the profile had already been created. I checked a bit further and found a member name I hadn't heard before, so went a bit deeper and found a DNA tested member who wasn't connected to the tree. So now his branch will be connected when the links update tonight and he just gained a World Tree full of cousins to explore. Win-Win I think.

Always glad to welcome a new cousin into the midst! smiley
