A family tale that has been handed down in my family is that the McDonald's came over on several ships, one ship sank but all the souls were saved. Have any other McDonald families heard of a similar tale? If so, who were the ancestors that came over?

My family story is 2 brothers and a sister started over in 1765 from the Isle of Skye and off the coast of "Carolina", the ship sank and only the youngest boy, John, made it to shore. His son Allen is my ggg grandfather and I cannot find the other sons or John. Allen says he was born in SC in 1792. McDonalds
