Thomas LEUFGENT - circa 1781 - Düren (Germany)

Hi,

I am looking for information about Thomas LEUFGENT born around 1781 in Düren.

His parents are Augustin LEUFGENT and Barbe SUNTERLAND from Düren. Augustin LEUFGENT was a blacksmith in Düren.

Thomas LEUFGENT got married in Guadeloupe (French West Indies) on May 20th 1807, on a small Island called La Désirade

He is 26 years old. He is a taylor. He married Marie Sophie ROBIN (circa 1774-1817), 32 years old, a native of the island (and already twice a widow).

They got no children. Thomas LEUFGENT is alive in 1817.

That's the last mention of him. No death record found in La Désirade.

I think that he arrived in Guadeloupe as a soldier but there is no proof of that.

Looking at FamilySearch, the name seems to be written mostly Leuffgens in Düren during that time.

FamilySearch gives these children of the couple Augustin Leueffgens and Anna Barbara Suderlants:

- Johannes, baptized 23 Jun 1779 in Düren

- Bartholomäus, baptized 2 Oct 1792 in Düren and

- Wilhelm Heinrich, baptized 21 Sep 1788 in Düren (the mother is written Anna Barbara Sonderhends)

This is only that what is about Leufgens/Suderlants. There are a few of other records you should have a look at. I don't find Thomas in them, but maybe these ones are also helpful

Before asking my question, I have tried on Familysearch with the spelling LEUFGENT and got almost no results and none in Düren.

Thanks a lot for finding the original surname and the siblings of Thomas LEUFGENT.
