Have I got the correct John Bracken [closed]

I found an exact match for my 3x Great Grandfather John Bracken and since it was an orphaned profile I adopted it and then merged the two profiles. Only problem is, my ancestor John Bracken-716 is sent to Australia as a convict leaving his first wife Mary Moore-51105 and only one child behind, and he then starts a new life and family in Australia with his second wife Catherine Cunningham, but the other profile of his that I merged had him staying in England with his first wife and having more children ie not a convict.

I suspect that who ever created the original profile for John had no idea that he was transported as a convict, I noticed there was a six year gap after his first and second child in the family that he was supposed to have had with his first wife in England, I suspect that his first wife Mary Moore had more children some time after John was transported and these children have been wrongly attributed to John.

Anyhow, the way his profile is setup now is how I see it should be, as I have disconnected the other children etc but I wouldn't mind if someone else could run their expert eye over John Bracken-716 and his first wife Mary Moore-51105 and give me a second opinion just in case I am wrong.

On most of these Bracken profiles that are connected and originally done by someone else they list two sources, 'The Brackens' by Bill Coffey, and Family Records via Foster Brooks.

I need help, I hope that isn't to convoluted,

Cheers, Mark Hutchinson.

Hi Mark,

I have found a record of the death in Victoria, Australia in 1870 of John Bracken, married to Catherine Cunningham. Unfortunately, it states he was the son of Richard and Bridget. Record

Thanks for that Philip,

unfortunately it looks like I have stuffed up a perfectly good profile for another John Bracken by merging it with my John Bracken. I don't usually do that, but I do like having the correct information on my profiles, so I shall correct my mistake.

You don't happen to know if one can unmerge two previously merged profiles, do you ? Probably not.

Anyhow, I can correct my John Bracken's profile and at least it will be factual.

Thanks Philip for your help, and sorry about the stuff up.
I just noticed the BDMs info, I have that in my sources on my profile of John Bracken, and place of birth Rosscommon,  I'm stupid for not noticing.

Actually, I don't think I have done a merge, I have simply grabbed the wrong profile when I was starting to write up my John Bracken's profile, so I have now hijacked the wrong profile, that's a bit different.

Cheers MarkH.
Hi Mark,

Unmerging is not possible, so its good if you haven't actually merged them.

I'm surprised, I didn't need to log in to the Victoria BDM records, but I don't think there was any further information.
