When your still living what information is available for me to add

to my profile? Graduated from Seminole High, Pinellas Co., Fl. in 1969. Spent graduation night in Basic Training (WAF Squad 45), in the Air Force on Lackland Air Force Base,  San Antonio, Tx.  Yes I am a considered by those who actually fought in Vietnam, as a Vietnam Veteran.

My five years of military experience is not available is their anyway to access anything from my military service?

I am so proud of the time I spent in the USAF and I want my ancestors to know that.

I graduated from Eckerd College, St Petersburg, Fl. in 1986 with a Bachelors Degree in Business.  What can you do on your profile with the fact that you have obtained a degree?

I held some very exciting jobs over the years would that be interesting to my ancestors?

Is it appropriate to include in your profile what kind of person you are and what was important to you in life?

I would appreciate any suggestions you can provide as I redo my profile.

In my opinion, you should feel free to say/write whatever you want about yourself on your own profile, within the confines of the Honor Code and "the laws of the land" and while respecting the privacy of your fellow "still livings!"

Taylor G.,  when I laid out my own demographics I was told ever so succinctly but politely (no profane, obscene, etc words) that it wasn't a biography.  True, it was limited to # of marriages, children, educational level, a few states I lived in and a few genealogical activities elsewhere (than WT). I thought it was a well-rounded biog, and quite similar to Linkedin and other Pro websites. Ain't nothing more anyone needs to know, and I'm not sure they need to know that much, but none of it is squirreled away, it can be found online here and there (I found it, so anyone else can find it) so no secrets were exposed. 

So I'm looking at your demographics, above, heavy on the military, light on the other usual categories, but if that's how you want to be viewed, as a Warrior, that's how it will be.  I'm sure if you wanted others to know you finger painted in acrylics (bright colors) a version of the Mona Liza, on a canvas 5 ft by 8 ft, and that it is the first thing to confront anyone who enters your front door, you would say something about it.

PS/ there's not a thing about you or your life that will excite any deceased ancestor, and any who are living may well have their own opinion of your activities and actions; if you have descendants, that's another tale altogether, it may excite them; if you have a fan club, your exploits might well prove of interest to them. What is the audience you are aiming your biography and pictorial display at, toward? That would determine in part what you wanted displayed.

 Well, Taylor, having my ancestors interested in what I was -- or was not  -- isn't something that ever occurred to me. And Judging by the distilled Wisdom of Ages handed over by my parents it is not something my ancestors would have given any thought to.  I am, after all, female. 

I will say it is an interesting idea for a autobiographical approach, though. Or an interesting approach for an autobiography.  We will at WT will await this autobiography with interest.

As I look at my profile, I was trying to figure out what about my profile was drawing 4,500+ visitors to it.

Taylor, there is a huge range of profile biographies of WikiTreers.  Some people write nothing.  Others write many pages. Some are very funny and I only wish I had the sense of humor to do that myself.

As for documentation, you can scan your personal documents such as diplomas, etc., but as far as I know they won't display to other people due to WikiTree's privacy rules about images on the pages of living people...

OK, now I see that you've written your biography, but your documents are not displaying, at least to me.  All I see are question marks.

If you create a free-space page for yourself and link the documents to it, I think that will make them public, then people should be able to see them.  It might take one more step, which would be to make links on your profile back to the FSP.  I haven't tried it myself but would be happy to experiment with you.

Taylor, I have seen lots of member profiles here and they run the gamut:  some are red privacy and show nothing, others would show if anything were there, but it's not, at the other extreme, some start with where they went to nursery school and continue at an extremely detailed level up to the present time, some just have a description of their genealogy related interests … there's no end to the variety of styles and content.

Personally, I tried to write a fairly complete autobiography without including a lot of details and I did it in a "tongue-in-cheek" style, making a joke of including inline sources.

I would say it's 100% up to you what you choose to include and how you do it - our own profiles are not at all the same as the ones we write for ancestors here, so there is no reason why the biographies should necessarily be the same sort of essays we write for ancestors.
