Thanks 20,000 is a lot to ignore, that's why the Runnymede Memorial was created. Especially in RAF Coastal Command not many bodies came back for burial where the pilot was killed or incapacitated. I was shocked at how few graves there were at St Michaels Cemetery near Leuchars, Scotland.
Not to mention the Bomber Command crews lost in the North Sea in disabled aircraft. Fighter Command losses were much lighter with generally only one man per aircraft.
