I have an extensive genealogy record tracing my roots back to Marguerite Girard and Pierre  Forcier through my father's line. My maiden name is Forcier. I am always looking for new & interesting details relating to my history.

What a good question!  Certainly an interesting detail.  The bio in the profile might contain the answer - it has this:

She would have arrived in Québec city on 3 September 1673 aboard the ship L'Espérance^[4] as a fille du roy, not knowing how to sign.^[5]
