How to complete a merge set as an unmerged match?

I proposed Daugherty-604 be merged with Daugherty-336 but the merge was postponed. I see the comment about different husbands, but only one has a husband entered. Is this the problem? I created the newer (duplicate) profile when my request to edit the original profile was unanswered.

I searched g2g for a while before creating the duplicate profile, I'm pretty sure I was supposed to create the duplicate then merge them, but I don't know what the next step after they are set as an unmerged match.

Anyway I'm glad to be gettin' into it! Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the answers!

The death certificate lists her parents as Harrison M. Daugherty and Nancy Carr, but I'm unable to add Daugherty-326 and Carr-2302 to the profile for the same reasons I ended up making the duplicate.

Should I have added this information elsewhere in the duplicate profile, to make the merge clearer? Or if I had not made the duplicate at all, is there a placeholder I could have used? I really just wanted to add the marriage, I'm sure they were a match from everything I'd seen but I don't have much more to add than that.

To merge an unmerged match  you first have to remove the unmerged match and propose a new merge. Propose a new merge and the messages on the screen will walk you through the process, just be sure that in the merge proposal box you explain the differences and why the merge should be approved. If you still have provlems feel free to post another comment or question here. Actually you should not have created the duplicate but rather followed the unresponsive manager protocall, but that is a minor error and we all make mistakes.

At the bottom of one of the pages, click on compare, next to the Ella's name, compare as usual, then use the "merge them" at top. It will tell you that they are set as unmerged matches, ask you if you want to remove the UM, Say yes, it will then ask you what you want to do. You want to initiate a new merge. Make sure you explain fully why you believe they should be merged.

However in this case, I might question these two also, the only point in common seems to be a birthyear, and there is no information in either bio. If you know the parents of your ella are Daugherty-326 and Carr-2302 add them to your profile, then it would be clear to all. Were her parents listed on the death certificate?

Okay, I'm pullin' up my soap box ... lol

It's not a really big deal to re-do the proposed merge via ... remove the unmerged match and then propose a new merge ... but it seems a little wasteful.  The merge was proposed once and someone just wanted a bit more information or sources or whatever.  I'd think that an option on the unmerged match blurb at the bottom of the profile would be 'Re-instate merge' ... voila, you're done.  Maybe the 30 day wait period would be re-set but I don't think all that extra clickin' and typin' should be necessary.

Just fell off my soap box!
