Can anyone help with AJ Jacob's Garrett line?

Hi, fellow WikiTreers. :)

AJ's Garrett ancestral line needs LOTS of original sources starting with Coleman and his parents. The further up the tree, the more work is needed, especially the John Garrett who married Elizabeth Ware: http://www.wikitree.com/treewidget/Ware-18/300

I've been collecting hints and clues throughout the internet and adding them to the appropriate files so right now, many of the profiles look more like a scratch pad than a true biography.

Found the following interesting though it may all be someone's wish list:

Cosimo Gherardini b. abt. 870 He was the 1st Great Duke of Florence
Mathias Gherardini b. abt. 900
Lord Otterus (Othoer) Gherardini b. abt. 934 in Italy, d. abt. 996 in Italy
Baron Ottorus Gherardo Gherardini b. abt. 978 was a Florentine
Sir Otho b. abt. 1006 in Italy

Gerald Fitzwalter b. bet. 1065-1070 in Windsor, Berkshire, England, d. 1136 in England, m. Nesta Rhys
William Fitzgerald b. bef. 1100 in Carew Castle, Pembrokeshire, Wales, d. 1173 in Carrucastle in County Pembroke, England
William Fitzwilliam Fitzgerald b. bet. 1140-1174, d. bet. 1192-1260 in Eyre, County Chester, England

Sir Thomas Gerrard b. abt. 1420 in Sittingbourne, Kent County, England
Sir Lawrence Gerrard b. abt. 1460
Sir John Gerrard b. abt.1485
Sir William Gerrard b. 1507 in Dorney Bucks, England, d. 27 Sep, 1571 in St. Magnus, London, England, m. Isabel Nethermill
John Garrett (Baron of Lamar) b. abt. 1550,
Sir Knight William Garrett b. 1583, m. Bridget

Most trees say Sir Knight is the ancestor of John Garrett who married Elizabeth Ware. I don't know if it's true or not.

Sir Knight William Garrett  b: 1583 md. Bridget  b: 1587

Their son:
John Garrett I  b: Abt. 1615 in England        d: 1679  md. Annie Dunston

Their son:

John Garrett II  b: 1635 in England        d: 1706  md. (1) Nannie Harrison  (2) Elizabeth Ware

AJ's line may go through Nannie Harrison instead of Elizabeth Ware. More research is definitely needed.

Thank you so much, Debby, for all the work you've put into this so far. I hope we get some bites for a little aid, because I know there is  a lot yet to do to straighten it out!
Wish I would have seen this. I don't follow the Garrett tag but the Gerard tag.
Hi, Michelle. I'm so focused on the Garretts, I didn't think to use the Gerard/Gerrard tag.

Quite a few individuals from the list above are already on WikiTree so I link to them when I can find them. At one point I stopped linking because what we have on WikiTree doesn't match the records in the Gerrard/Garrett line on this page so more research is needed.

Maybe Matty Gerrard might find his connection to AJ here if we can verify each step of the tree.

Following is my free-space page of Gerrard/Garrett notes: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Garrett/Gerrard_Studies

I found this excellently sourced post on the Ancestry.com boards regarding this family and some confusion/crossover between similarly named families in England.  Anyone researching this line should definitely read it: http://boards.ancestry.com/surnames.garrard/341/mb.ashx

Thank you SO much for that article, Kyle. It's one I hadn't come across yet. It will help a lot when/if I can get back that far in ancient history. Due to court house fires, I haven't even been able to prove the American Garrett line as of yet, but am putting in many hours trying. I'm out of town for the week, but borrowed a lap top to check my email and was very excited to see your note.smiley
