WikiTree Adoption Angels are volunteers who have taken on the mission of helping adoptees and birth families look for and connect with each other.

With our global family tree and our DNA features, WikiTree can be an invaluable asset for assisting adoptees and birth families in their search.

Angels can also help adoptees get settled into WikiTree. Even knowing how to set up their own profile can be difficult! Angels can help smooth the way.

If you would like to help adoptees, have signed our Honor Code and have been a member of WikiTree for at least 3 months, click on "ANSWER"  to post below and we'll get you going!

Some ways Angels help adoptees on WikiTree:

  • Finding birth parents using DNA and research
  • Answering questions here on G2G, directly, and in our private Google Adoptee group
  • Help them set up their profiles
  • Help them add their family to WikiTree
  • Provide and update help pages
  • Angels also do research and looks ups for other Angels

I made sure to sign in this time ☺️

Hopefully it worked..
I would like to be a part of Adoption Angels as I have a step daughter that adopted at birth. Her birth mother has been trying to locate her for several years.  Griffith-516
Addison, I sent you a message with more information. Emma :-)
I would love to learn more and become a helper! I think I may have started to understand but I am rubbish with computers.

I am the daughter, Hayley of Brian Clayton, born David Owen. I have DNA uploaded but it confuses me! When I become more experienced, joining your team would be an honour. Beth, what you have achieved on here is simple incredible.

Hayley, I'm sending you a private message about your dad's search.
Thank you. I hope you got my reply. The DNA part on here confuses me !
Hi - I'm new to WikiTree but have been a search angel for about four years now. I've helped hundreds of adoptees across the US and Canada and have had several searches that went to South Africa and Australia as well. I'm very experienced with DNA, GEDmatch and research techniques - and have a lot more time on my hands right now - so hope to be put to work quickly! :-D
Oh, yay, Margaret! I'll send you a private message about Adoption Angels in a little bit. :-)
Any help would be gratefully received. I still haven’t been able to identify my Grandfather but do have a first cousin for Brian. I believe she is a paternal link.

Thank you very much for commenting. The comments on here give me so much hope.
Hi anonymous, you may not have been signed in when commenting so I don't know who you are--looking for your grandfather. Have you filled out an Adoption Angels application for help? Emma

Solved my 1st adoption a year ago (friend of 17 years). Have since solved 66 more. Found out who my 4th great grandparents were using DNA.

I have not been a member for 3 months as of yet, but would like to help in this area.

I have a sister who was put up for adoption in 1969 and I found her through online resources, websites etc.  We met in 2002 after initially starting my search in 2000.

Hi Tanis, Thanks so much for wanting to volunteer. I have you on the list to check back with you next month. Thanks! Emma :-)

I would be ecstatic to join this group! I have been helping adoptees for several years and I generally handle the cases where they basically have zero information. I find great joy in helping folks figure everything out.

Thanks kindly, Randee Stewart-Clark

I’d love to help with your work! Both of my parents, as well as all of my aunts and uncles on both sides, were adopted through closed adoptions at birth. Last year I used third-cousin matches on 23&me combined with genealogy research to identify both of my parent’s birth families, and then found the birth families of two of my aunts. All of the cases I worked on were closed adoptions from the 60s or 70s, so I had no names to work with just paperwork containing very basic background information about the birth parents and their family medical history. I love to really dive into research, and have experience on some very complex cases, so I’d be thrilled to have a chance to help out!

I "sent" a note yesterday expressing interest in helping with Adoption Angels....but it apparently disappeared into cyberspace and there's no record that I wrote it. I've helped a few friends informally and REALLY want to do more to help adoptees and birth parents find each other. I've read the boards on the project...please get in touch!

I did get it, Pam. It came through the Project email. I just sent you a reply. Thanks so much!
