Anyone using Macros for Mac?

I have a very long letter that I am using <ref> and </ref> on.  It occured to me that a Macro or Assign Key might be a great way to go to save from retyping these over and over.

I will research Mac solutions online but I wonder if anyone has already found a solution?

UPDATE: I found aText, an Apple App for $5.  I bought that and so far it works perfect.

Michael, I re-opened this so that others who might be interested will find what you discovered.
Thanks, I was not sure how that worked.  It is the first time I used Closed.

Hi Kristy,

I download ClipMenu. I still need to experiment with it but it looks very promising. Thank you!

UPDATE:  I like it, not quite as slick as aText for this specific purpose but very handy for other stuff. It works well and is easy to use.  I will keep it an use it. Thanks.
Hi Kristy, I also just downloaded it, and used it just once, but boy was that easy. Can't wait to use it some more. Thank you.
So pleased I could help :)

If I'm understanding correctly.

Put it on your notepad or word processor and copy and paste when you need it. I have a whole document full of sources that I use on a regular basis. It stays open the whole time I'm on Wikitree. (like all day)

Thanks Anne,

I thought of that too.  I like the idea of frequently used items stored on a note, I have started using Evernote so maybe I will put it there.

But, Ideally, for the situation I am currently using, I could just enter two keystrokes as I am typing. Just before my comments and just after.
That's sounds great, maybe when someone explains it to you, someone can explain it to me too. I've long since forgotten how to create a macro. (Evidently I must not have needed them often enough to remember how.)
I found a solution but it will cost me $34.95.  It is called TextExpander for Mac.

I tried the text substitutions and Chrome Extentions but they had limited success, they worked and then didn't.  The TextExpander program works great but I do not want to spend the money but I may if I do this often enough.

So Anne,

While I am typing the letter and my grandmother writes," ...my great grandfather was President of the United States."  I would type:

...my [[grandpa-xxx|great grandfather]] was president of the United States.<ref> grandpa-xxx was not president of the United States but he was president of the United Stump Removal Coalition</ref>.

Then my comments will show up as references at the bottom of the section.  And Yes, I did set up a Free Space to enter the letter.

I have a lot of statements that need corrections or comments to be included with them so the text exanding saves me a few keystrokes.

I can type ,r and get <ref> and I can type ,e and get </ref>.  I know it is only a few keystrokes but I have a lot of them and I do not have to use the Shift key to get <.  Which is a bit akward for me.

Ooo. I had another thought for this particular situation. You could create a free-space page for the rather long letter. Put it there and then just have to type in the name of the Free space.
