No, not at all. The GEDCOM will be a text copy of your Ancestry.com file. Sometimes the format and sources don't come over all nice and neat, so when you use your GEDCOM to create profiles here, you will have to do some clean up. Pease be careful when you are reviewing your GEDCOMpare report here at WikiTree to not create duplicates of profiles which are already on WikiTree. Basically, you will link to the ones already here rather than create new ones. If you have new info or sources to add, you can go the profile already here and, in collaboration with the profile manager, make changes. Also, you do not have to use your GEDCOM to create profiles-- many of us prefer manual profile creation. You might want to try it both ways and see which method of profile creation fits you best. All the best to you as you participate here on WikiTree!

Hi Sonja, welcome. A gedcom is a COPY of the information held in your Ancestry account. Gedcoms are a pain to process, I suggest you split your family into little groups per gedcom, then deal with that before uploading the next gedcom. If you really want to have a larger gedcom, 5000 people is the max.
