Does anyone have documentation of Mary Palmer Noland's death. Have not been able to find death certificate on her.

J. Lynn Noland's Milesian Mountaineers covers Nolands in Haywood. It includes on page 300 the 6 June 1848 record of Mary A. Palmer & Alen Noland's marriage (in Haywood County, Bondsman Jess McGee). It does not include death info for either Alen or Mary (it covers Haywood Co. deaths "through 1938", but its earliest entry is for a 1921 death; Alen's profile says he died 1865, but I added a comment to his profile* - it appears he has a tombstone, which says he died in 1908).

p 331 in Milesian Mountaineers shows Allen in Haywood County in the 1850 census.

Have you checked Census records in Family Search?

Cheers, Liz (nee Noland, but not the NC Nolands)

* I added comments - it appears J. Lynn has Allen b 1816 m Mary Palmer b 1831 (pp 225-229) & he (1816-1865 Allen) has a profile: Noland-958 (different birth date but otherwise duplicate of Noland-694), married to Palmer-17173 (appears to be duplicate of Palmer-10709. I inherited my copy of Milesian Mountaineers from my Dad, and he has marked it up quite a bit, noting inconsistencies within the various sections. It may be that the two Allens are the same - I think Census records are going to be your best leads for sorting them out.

edit: added page number "225" to give a range of pages. Allen b 1816 is on p 225; record for son Allen is on p 229 (Allen James Noland, born 12-6-1854, no death date/married Ellen Lockman).

fyi - FindAGrave has a picture of the tombstone for Allen Noland died 1908 & calls him "Allen Greenberry Noland" (tombstone pic doesn't show "Greenberry"), son of Willis & Malinda Green Noland (no source cited though).

Mary/Polly and Allen appear on the 1850 and 1860 censuses with their children, but in 1870 Mary is there, children are there, but no Allen.  Do you know  for sure that she lived to be 100+?  The last record I can find for her is the 1883 marriage of son William.  Did she remarry perhaps?
