Question

My father told me very little about his family. I meet some of them maybe twice as a child. He was born in Cincinnati but his father (Cordell) I believe was born around the north Georgia/Alabama border 1900 and was murdered in Richmond, IN in 1947. Before that it all gets dodgy. There is maybe some first-hand information for me if I could find his siblings or their children. There may have been several.

As for me, I have recently retired and have started looking into the "family tree". I am currently living near St Augustine FL and would like to meet any "family" living nearby. I would also enjoy making connections to discuss the Cordell family with anyone interested. Thanks, Michael Cordell

There is a Thomas Cordell family in the 1900 census living in Walker County, Georgia. Walker is in the western part of Georgia on the Alabama line and it borders Tennessee on the north.

Thomas Cordell b. May 1874 in GA 26 yrs old

Lile or Lu (I think) wife b. July 1874 S.C. 25 yrs.

Annie B. daugh. b. Jan 1898 GA 2 yrs

Wm H. son b. May 1900 0/12 yrs

This might be worth a bit of research as they seem to be in the correct area. I just did a search for Cordell in 1900 in Georgia on Ancestry census records and this popped up.

It would be helpful if you would edit your post to include a bit more information. Since you are listed as "anonymous" no one will know if they are part of your family. For the Cordell surname - some dates and locations will help those who might see your post.

Thanks! I am unfamiliar with the software and didn't see that it was posted as ""Anonymous". Hard to get to know that guy.
