Advice before editing this pre-1700 Hughbanks profile?

I added William Hughbanks. Do you think this could be William Eubanks (Eubanks-112)?

I have been reading MyHertiage Hughbanks Threads and references point to my Hughbanks coming to America in Maryland and coming as Eubanks.

Should I contact one of the pre-1700 projects or know about any style guidelines before proceeding? Thank you!

You need sources - documents- not my heritage or ancestry trees. DOCUMENTS,

In answer to your question I would recommend you contact the https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Maryland which is part of the United States Project.

There is a https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Maryland#State_Resources section for you to explore.

You don't mention from which country William came from or  were he landed and on what ship he possibly travelled all this helps to place him.

Looking at the Maryland name studies I did not find one for either version of the surname. Phonetically the name "sounds" the same, so yes, confusion on the name is a possibility. Research will be need before any merge of the profile should be thought of in order to establish the surname.

As Eddie has said what you need to look for is actual documents links to a family tree on other sites are not sources. See the https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Sources
