Whalley-7 and Whaley-214 are linked as father and son. This is doubtful!

Theophilus Whaley-7 and James Whaley-214 are linked as father and son. There is no record of Theophilus ever having a son named James.  In the biography profile for Theophilus his children are named. No James listed. So, what is usually done about something like this?

Thanks,

Carolyn Whaley Vosburg

Research first to double check that they were not actually son and father. For instance, Theophilus's biography is just quoting secondary sources, and such a source could very well have overlooked a son who is known, say, only through a land or probate record or something.

If you are pretty sure they were not father and son, post the same message on each page announcing your intention to disconnect father and son unless a source connecting them is put forward. (Putting messages on both profiles alerts all members of trusted lists for both profiles, who presumably all have an interest in the connection.) After waiting what you feel is an appropriate length of time, disconnect them. I don't like waiting a whole month like for merges and will usually make changes after a week or so.
