Fate of Anton Burger, prisoner in Dachau Concentration Camp

+2 votes

I am trying to determine the fate of Anton Burger, born June 6, 1910, Austrian Roman Catholic Chaplain, deported to the Dachau Concentration Camp, arriving February 8 , 1941.

On his WT-profile it says "liberated Dachau", with source "JewishGen volunteers, comp. Germany, Dachau Concentration Camp Records, 1945 [database on-line]. Provo, UT, USA: Ancestry.com Operations Inc, 2008."

Can somebody with an Ancestry subscription please provide details on the claimed liberation?

And of course any other information on Anton's fate is very welcome.

Edit: giving more precise link to his documents in Arolsen Archives

This is all it says about him

Anton Burger, Austrian, diocese of St.Pölten, Dachau imprisoned 1939-1941, Dachau 1941-45

Thanks again Sandra! This pointed me to  broadening my research. I did, and by googling his name, profession and birth year I found a wikipedia entry:

Anton Burger (* 1910): Anton Burger (Kaplan in Steinakirchen 1938–1939) wurde am 25. April 1939 verhaftet und aufgrund des Heimtückegesetzes zu zehn Monaten Gefängnis verurteilt. Er wurde in weiterer Folge im KZ Dachau interniert (8. Februar 1941 – 26. April 1945).

And from there to Geistliche im KZ Dachau, Namen B:

Burger,  Anton , Kaplan, Österreich, Bistum St. Pölten, *6. 6.1910, Dachau 8. 2. 1941-26. 4.1945,befreit auf Evakuierungsmarsch, Verhaftungsgrund: Heimtückegesetz

Thank you so much, Sandra!

I guess that's just all available info on the liberation. Pity they could not or did not provide details.

There are more records if you  visit the JewishGen website, but you have to become a member.
Dachau Concentration Camp Records.

They are the records of the person ,and we are lucky to have them. Many died  in the camp and shortly after the liberation also and I don't know if they had those names.

Thanks for the advice, Sandra. I became a member but can only find the information you already provided. There is some more information at the Arolsen Archives, like names of parents and grounds for emprisonment, but unfortunately nothing later then 1943.
