I want to know the names of Simeon Parks who married Susan Moody in White county Illinois.

Simeon I married Susan Jane Hawkins in 1876 in Carmi, Ill.  This was both of their second marriages.  Susan's maiden name was Moody , daughter of Anderson and Hannah Moody, and her first marriage was to James Hawkins, who died.  Simeon's first wife was Fanny Hershman, who died.  Simeon fought in the Civil War in the 1st calvary from Indiana.

ANY information about this line would be so appreciated, as my grandpa, Simeon II, raised me.

Thanks so much for replying.  I do have this information.  I'm looking for Simeon I parents names and birth places.  If anyone can help me I would so appreciate this.  I think that they lived in NY and around 1830s, moved.

I just saw your reply Ann (Onymous) and thought I would try again to find what you were looking for in the first place. It appears the family moved from New York about 1843 of there abouts, then lived in Ohio, Iowa and settled in Indiana. They had at least 10 children. The parents are George and Jane Parkes.

Here is a link to view the US 1850  Census for yourself: "United States Census, 1850," index and images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/MHV9-D9Q : accessed 11 Jun 2013), Simeon Parkes in entry for George Parkes, 1850.

Hope this is what you are looking for smiley

I just did a quick search on FamilySearch.org and found Simeon and Susan Parks living in Herald Prairie, White, Illinois. If they married in 1876 this would be the first US Census after their marriage.

Here is the link: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/MXKB-DMV

and the source information:

"United States Census, 1880," index and images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/MXKB-DMV : accessed 28 Oct 2012), Simeon Parks, Herald Prairie, White, Illinois, United States; citing sheet 448B, family 0, NARA microfilm publication T9-0258.

This should help get you started. Good luck.

Simeon is the son of George Park(e)s and Jane Perry.   The family was in Posey County Indiana in the censuses of 1850 & 1860.  Simeon enlisted in Civil War from Posey County.  Parents moved to Missouri, father George remarried after mother's death and was living in White County Illinois at the time of the 1880 census.  Simeon appears to have had at least 13 aiblings.

Jane Perry was the daughter of  Willard Perry & Comfort Ann Green.  She was probably born in Wayne County, New York.  If not then Ontario County.

Good luck with your research.  Nancy
