Advice after editing this pre-1700 Talley profile?

I have information to contribute to the profile of Thomas Talley. This is what I can add:

  • I added the extensive profile of Thomas from the family history listed below as a source
  • Included in that are references and quotes of deeds that verify the information cited in the history

These are the sources I am using:

  • TALLEY, GEORGE A.  HISTORY OF THE TALLEY FAMILY ON THE DELAWARE. Philadelphia, PA: Moyer & Lesher, Printers, 1899.
  • Sons of the American Revolution Membership Applications, 1889-1970, SAR Membership 92564

Should I contact one of the pre-1700 projects or know about any style guidelines that I need to include in this profile? This is my first pre-1700 profile. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you!

Robert, please remove the large section of text copied from another source.  Copying text is highly discouraged here.  See https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Copying_Text

We seek originally-written text on profiles. Thanks.

Hi, Robert, and thanks for helping to build WikiTree.

May I suggest that you add links to the appropriate pages in the work by Talley. It is located here on archive.org. You can find help guides for doing that in Edit mode on the profile and then looking to the right of the text edit box. Where Talley is not citing a primary source document, I would look for primary sources.

With regard to older SAR membership applications, these by themselves are not considered a source but can lead you to primary source documents. I know DAR now has an online database that tells you if lineages are documented, proven false, or uncertain. I don't know if SAR has something similar up or not...worth looking as many of those old membership applications are full of Granny Smith's hearsay and faulty memories.
