Have you registered for our 2020 Scan-a-Thon yet? [closed]

imageIn January we will have our second annual 72-hour scanning marathon, to parallel our fun and successful annual Source-a-ThonClean-a-Thon, and Connect-a-Thon.

Our mission: to scan and share all those old family photos and other items we've been meaning to get to!

The party starts Friday morning, January 10, at 8 AM (ET) and runs until Monday, January 13, at 8 AM (ET). (Eastern Standard Time is GMT -5.) We're encouraging genealogists from all over the world to participate at the same time.

Will you join us?

To register, just click the ANSWER button and say "Sign me up!" or whatever and include a few words about your location or genealogical interests.  This will enable us to match you with a team.

If you're already part of a team from a previous challenge and want to stay on it, mention that. Not all teams are available for the Scan-a-Thon so you may not end up on the same one. The current teams are listed here. More may be added.

Please be sure to read the rules of participation. Thanks!

closed with the note: Registration is now closed! Thanks, everyone!

Thank you for clearing that up.
lol. Guess I wasn't signed in.
I do not remember and want to make sure to let my team know the most up to date info. Can we use records that are already online? For example, if we find a Death certificate or marriage license, can we save it to our computer and upload that to the profile or do they have to all be physically scanned on a scanner by us?
I'll be there. I'll be focusing on the family photos I have and a couple of documents I have. All family from Michigan (my tree isn't connected to many other trees yet. I'll be signing up for sourceathon, too. :) )
I'll be participating. I have barely started adding my family and it seems most of them so far do not connect to many other trees. Should be fun! I'll be focusing on my family who lived in Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania. and the Netherlands (further back in the States if I have time).
If the answer to Lisas question is a yes, then I can join in xxx
Colleen, you need to click <answer> to Eowyn's question above. Welcome to WikiTree.  Glad you are joining in.
Karen -- I don't think the answer to Lisa Murphy's question is yes.  You can still join in the fun if you can scan pictures, letters or even things you own that relate to a profile on WikiTree.  It doesn't count to scan a copy of a death certificate or marriage license that you don't actually own.
are there instructions on how to create a free space somewhere on WT?

Thank you

I'm in again with the Cornbread Catchers.

Although I secretly call the team the Bug Catchers because we all caught the genealogy bug!  Ha ha.  Much easier to remember and it has a connection to genealogy.  Feel free to join me.  You can be a secret Bug Catcher too.

Glad to have you with us again, Dash. As long as the bugs aren't in the cornmeal, it's all good LOL

Hi all,

I'm in! I have my mother's cedar chest full of unannotated pictures. Should be exciting.

Could you please add me to the Cornbread Catchers [https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Cornbread_Catchers]?

Thank you,

Claire

by Claire Nava G2G6 (7.2k points)
Oh that chest sounds exciting, Claire. Hope you are able to figure out who the unannontated pictures belong to.
Glad to have you on the team Claire! :)
I enjoyed working with this team during the Source-a-thon, so I'm happy to be back. :)
Thanks, Claire!

Sign me up! This will be my first year doing this-- I'm in Florida but a lot of my scans will be for ancestors in the Midwest. I have let a few things pile up so this could be the push I need to get them scanned and done!

Team Tennessee Volunteers would like to invite you to their wonderful and fun team.

Do you know what team you want to be on Lori?

The Cornbread Catchers are a southern based team (includes Florida!) :)
Thank you Tennessee Volunteers for the invite. I see that the Cornbread Catchers include Florida so I think I will join them this year.
Please add me to Team Cornbread Catchers. Thanks for the invite!

Just as the Help page states regarding the Scan-a-Thon...

"Sign me up!" or whatever... LMAO!

Just recently, i've actually been (both) scanning family photos as well as trying to obtain them from other family members too. I've even been lucky in locating some of them (of course confirming them as well) from other sources as well.

Would you like to join the Southern Super Sweepers? We would love to have you join us!!
Does the "Southern" mean the Southern US?

I live in the Northeastern US...

~Brian Kerr

Team Tennessee Volunteers would like to invite you to their wonderful and fun team.

Northeastern US is covered by Nor'Easters. That is New England and Canadian Maritimes. Shall I reserve you a cabin?
I actually checked your team out yesterday and wasn't sure about it yet as it doesn't include NY.

Though, it does include (for the most part) much of where my family lived and immigrated too like Canada, NH, MA, etc...

Hmmm...

~Brian Kerr
There is a Mid-Atlantic Team which used to be a New York Team, but spread out to include most of the Eastern Seaboard, and we allow you to work on whatever it is you like. We'd love to have you Brian.
I'm still listed as a team member of the Mid-Atlantic team since the last Source-a-Thon as seen on the following link.

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Team_New_York

I wasn't even sure how active the team was since the team web page hasn't really been updated or anything else.

This is only why I was all in for this Scan-a-Thon, but didn't know what was going on regarding teams.

~Brian Kerr
Thanks, Brian!
